Former President Donald Trump, leading in New Hampshire’s 2024 Republican presidential primary polls, vehemently criticized Governor Chris Sununu for endorsing rival Nikki Haley during a rally in Durham on Saturday. Trump accused Sununu of betrayal, labeling him a “spoiled brat” and a “selfish guy” who turned his back on loyal supporters.
Addressing a fervent crowd, Trump expressed disappointment over Sununu’s endorsement of Haley, a former UN ambassador and South Carolina governor critical of Trump’s role in the Capitol riot and legal issues. Boos erupted as Trump accused Sununu of lacking gratitude for his administration’s support.
“He’s like a spoiled brat. He doesn’t appreciate anything we did for him,” Trump declared, denouncing Haley as a “loser” and a “puppet of the establishment” during his rally in Durham.
Trump also criticized Sununu for skipping the 2022 Senate race against Democratic Senator Maggie Hassan, opting for a fourth term as governor. Trump endorsed Don Bolduc, who narrowly lost to Hassan, describing him as lacking charisma, energy, and vision.
Contrasting Sununu’s move with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Trump commended Reynolds for endorsing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, his close ally and potential running mate. He praised DeSantis for his exceptional handling of the pandemic, the economy, and the border crisis.
“Kim Reynolds is a true leader, a true patriot, a true friend,” Trump lauded. “She endorsed Ron DeSantis, who is a great governor, a great leader, a great fighter. He’s with us all the way. He’s not afraid of the fake news media, he’s not afraid of the radical left, he’s not afraid of anything. He’s a winner.”
Confident in securing the nomination and election, Trump dismissed the “rigged” system, “witch hunt” investigations, and “fake” polls. He asserted the unwavering support of the “MAGA movement,” claiming it to be stronger than ever. Trump anticipates campaigning alongside DeSantis and Reynolds in Iowa, predicting a landslide victory.
