Vice President Kamala Harris criticized former President Trump’s recent remarks alleging that immigrants were “poisoning the blood” of the country, drawing parallels to rhetoric used by Adolf Hitler. Harris, speaking on Lawrence O’Donnell’s MSNBC show, addressed Trump’s comments in the context of her own biracial background and immigrant heritage.

Harris stated, “I was raised knowing that there will be some people who will use their voice in a way that is meant to dehumanize, meant to suggest that the vast majority of us don’t have anything in common when, in fact, the vast majority of us have more in common than what separates us.” She interpreted Trump’s language as divisive and expressed her belief that people have rightfully drawn parallels between his rhetoric and Hitler’s.
Emphasizing the importance of leaders lifting others up rather than tearing them down, Harris positioned herself as the highest-ranking Democratic official to publicly compare Trump’s remarks about immigrants to Hitler, aligning with sentiments expressed by the Biden campaign and White House aides.
Trump’s controversial remarks were delivered during a rally in New Hampshire, where he claimed immigrants were “pouring into” the United States and “poisoning the blood of our country.” This rhetoric, echoed on his Truth Social platform, has drawn criticism for its historical implications and resemblance to language used by Hitler.
