A grim turn of events, a 29-year-old man, Lester Piercefield, has received a double life sentence plus 25 years for brutally gunning down a young couple and injuring another woman in Cobb County, Georgia. The verdict was announced by prosecutors on Friday following Piercefield’s conviction on two counts of murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm during a felony.
The horrifying incident unfolded on July 11, 2022, at an Austell apartment complex. Piercefield, who had been socializing with Jeremy Davis, 27, and Lena Wolfe, 24, turned violent when they returned to Yolanda Speller’s home. The assailant mercilessly shot Davis and Wolfe multiple times in the head and face, later shooting Speller in the eye.
Described by prosecutors as an especially evil and heartless man, Piercefield fled the scene, leaving behind a traumatized survivor and a gruesome crime scene. The victims, Davis and Wolfe, were parents to young children, leaving their families shattered.
Wendell Evans, Wolfe’s fiancé, expressed the heartbreak of informing their youngest son, only 5 months old at the time, about the tragic loss of his mother. Senior Assistant District Attorney Stephanie Green condemned Piercefield’s actions, stating, It is sickening that these five boys are left only with memories of their mom and dad.
Adding to the gravity of the situation, Piercefield is also a suspect in a double homicide in Anderson County, South Carolina, from August 2020. Billy Ray Johnson, 57, and Amy Jo Lambert, 30, were found shot to death in a burning trailer. Piercefield was previously arrested for accessory after the fact of a felony, as the murder weapon was discovered in his car during a traffic stop.
The double life sentence brings a measure of closure to the Cobb County victims’ families, but Piercefield’s alleged involvement in another heinous crime emphasizes the broader impact of his actions on multiple communities.
