In a Christmas Day controversy, former President Donald Trump directed a blistering tirade towards U.S. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, igniting fresh tensions regarding President Joe Biden’s purported involvement in the Justice Department’s scrutiny of Trump and his son, Hunter Biden.

Reported by Raw Story on Monday, December 25, 2023, Trump’s criticism was sparked by Monaco’s recent ABC News interview. Monaco defended the Justice Department against claims of politicization, emphasizing the dedication of its staff, an assertion that sharply conflicted with Trump’s stance.

Disagreeing vehemently with Monaco’s statements, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, accusing “ABC Fake News” of presenting Monaco with softball questions. He insinuated that Biden had not discussed matters related to classified documents, Hunter Biden’s case, Trump’s legal affairs, or attempted to influence the prosecution team. Trump lambasted Monaco’s response as a “complete lie” and speculated about alleged communications between Monaco and individuals he labeled unfavorably, including Andrew Weissmann, an MSNBC legal analyst who was part of Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation team.

Trump, without providing evidence, alleged that Biden exerted pressure on Monaco and her superiors to expedite criminal investigations against him, citing supposed election interference. “It’s all about Election Interference, and Biden was pushing Garland and Monaco to act, AND FAST,” Trump asserted, claiming that Biden had never discussed Hunter or ‘TRUMP’ with Attorney General Merrick Garland or Monaco.

These latest accusations come amid persistent tensions between Trump and the Biden administration. Trump’s ongoing assaults on the Justice Department and claims of political meddling have intensified an already contentious atmosphere surrounding investigations into his actions during his presidency.

The festive season, typically a time of goodwill, finds the political arena entrenched in division and hostility. Trump’s Christmas diatribe underscores the enduring influence of his presidency, perpetuating a deeply divided political climate in the United States.
