Far-right Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene faced yet another distressing incident on Christmas Day as law enforcement responded to the eighth occurrence of “swatting” harassment against her. “Swatting” involves pranksters making false emergency reports, prompting officers to respond to the victim’s address.
The Rome Police Department confirmed that on December 25, 2023, the 911 dispatch center received an emergency call to Greene’s address shortly before noon. The caller claimed to have shot his girlfriend and threatened to kill himself, creating a harrowing situation. Greene’s security detail and local law enforcement coordinated, determining there was no actual emergency, and the response was subsequently canceled en route.
Expressing frustration on social media, Greene revealed that this incident marked the eighth time she had been “swatted.” Despite the distress, she expressed gratitude for the swift response of her local police. In a Twitter post, she stated, “My local police are the greatest and shouldn’t have to deal with this. I appreciate them so much, and my family and I are in joyous spirits celebrating the birth of our savior Jesus Christ!”
“Swatting” has become a concerning trend, particularly affecting conservative figures. Activist Jack Posobiec claimed that his parents were also swatted on the same day, highlighting the malicious tactic’s widespread impact.
This incident is not the first time Greene has been targeted. In August 2022, a similar situation occurred, reportedly linked to frustration over her stance on “transgender youth rights.”
In addition to the swatting incidents, Greene disclosed threats received the previous week from an individual expressing a desire to physically harm her. Despite reporting the threats to Capitol Police, the person making the threats has yet to be arrested.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the response, Greene stated, “The outright absurdity of this email response and the fact that they have not arrested this guy is shocking, thankfully I’m a gun owner.”
Despite facing repeated incidents of harassment and threats, Greene remains committed to her principles. She emphasized continuing to fight for what is right, always putting America first, regardless of attacks against her. Greene teased her intention to introduce legislation addressing the issue of swatting, highlighting her determination to tackle the abuse of this malicious tactic.
