Eric Trump has issued a warning that if the Supreme Court denies presidential immunity, it could lead to potential legal repercussions for President Biden over the alleged cocaine incident at the White House last summer. In an interview with Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Eric Trump expressed concerns that without immunity, prosecutors may build a case against Biden for the incident.
He stated, “They’ll probably go after Joe Biden for having cocaine in the White House. They’ll go after Biden for raiding his opponent’s home.” Trump also raised the possibility of Biden facing legal action for actions taken before the 2022 primaries.
Last July, Secret Service agents found a small bag containing less than a gram of cocaine in a vestibule near the Situation Room, one floor below the Oval Office. Despite an investigation, the culprit was not identified, and the case was closed after 11 days.
Former President Donald Trump has argued before the Supreme Court for complete immunity for presidents regarding their official actions. This argument aimed to dismiss the four-count indictment against him related to the 2020 election. However, the Supreme Court justices expressed skepticism about the idea of absolute presidential immunity while also being cautious about the prospect of no immunity at all.
Eric Trump, echoing his father’s legal team, warned that without immunity, former presidents could be subjected to legal challenges. He expressed concerns that overzealous prosecutors could abuse their power and target every president, starting with Biden.
“The floodgates are going to open, and I guarantee you, Joe Biden will not have one foot outside of the White House doors before they start going after him legally, ruthlessly,” Eric Trump said.
President Biden has refrained from commenting on his predecessor’s legal affairs. The Supreme Court is expected to make a ruling on the immunity question by July, potentially sending the case back to lower courts for further consideration.
