MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough has raised concerns about former President Donald Trump’s physical changes since leaving the White House, cautioning against his participation in debates with President Joe Biden.
Scarborough’s warning comes in the wake of Trump and Biden agreeing to face off in debates, with Scarborough suggesting that such appearances could highlight Trump’s vulnerabilities.
On Thursday, May 16, Scarborough contended that despite Trump’s attempts to focus on Biden’s age as a campaign issue, Trump himself exhibits more signs of cognitive impairment, which could be magnified on the debate stage.
Speculating on Trump’s campaign team’s awareness of these vulnerabilities, Scarborough highlighted their reluctance to showcase a direct comparison between the two men.

“They don’t want the contrast because Donald Trump is weak, failing, and miserable,” Scarborough asserted.
He further emphasized Trump’s potential struggles in a debate setting without a supportive audience, suggesting that Trump’s usual tactics of insults and bluster would fall flat without the typical crowd reactions.
Scarborough underscored the potential discomfort Trump might face in a silent studio audience, where his remarks could be met with only laughter from behind the scenes.
Highlighting Trump’s avoidance of GOP debates before becoming the party’s nominee, Scarborough questioned the wisdom of Trump’s eagerness for debates with Biden.
Trump’s physical changes since leaving office, coupled with Scarborough’s assessment of his potential performance, add a layer of complexity to the upcoming debates, raising questions about Trump’s readiness for such public engagements.
