Martial arts phenomenon “Cobra Kai” gears up for its eagerly awaited final season on Netflix, Ralph Macchio, beloved for his role as Daniel LaRusso in the iconic “Karate Kid” franchise, has made waves with exciting updates. Recently, Macchio not only wrapped filming for “Cobra Kai” but also shared thrilling news about the upcoming “Karate Kid” movie.

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original 1984 “Karate Kid,” which introduced the world to Daniel LaRusso, Macchio took to social media to mark the occasion. He announced his completion of filming for both “Cobra Kai” and the new “Karate Kid” film, slated for release on May 30, 2025, by Sony Pictures in the US and Canada.

Joining Macchio in the upcoming movie will be Jackie Chan, reprising his role as Mr. Han from the 2010 “Karate Kid” remake, alongside newcomer Ben Wang as the main lead, Li Fong. The film’s synopsis, as revealed by Production List, hints at a compelling storyline focusing on Li’s journey from Beijing to Brooklyn, navigating personal tragedy and his passion for martial arts.

Originally scheduled for June 7, 2024, the film’s release date was adjusted due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, ultimately settling on May 30, 2025, to avoid overlapping with the final installment of “Cobra Kai.” The series, which will conclude in a grand finale spread across three parts, promises to deliver more of the nostalgic charm and intense martial arts action that has captivated audiences worldwide.
