Senator John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Joe Biden, dismissing calls for Biden to step down after a challenging debate performance. Fetterman, known for his outspoken style, emphasized Biden’s electoral track record against former President Donald Trump, stating, “That’s going to be our guy. That’s my guy.”
Highlighting Biden’s victory in the 2020 election, Fetterman confidently asserted, “My money is gonna be on the guy that kicked his ass in 2020 and he’s going to win again.”
During an interview with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki, Fetterman criticized those within his party urging Biden to reconsider, likening their advice to telling a seasoned athlete like Tom Brady how to play. “If no one has run for president and they’re giving advice… it’s like, I’m gonna tell Tom Brady, ‘Oh you really need to hold harder in the pocket or something,'” he quipped.
Reflecting on recent campaign stops with Biden in Pennsylvania, Fetterman described Biden’s performance as flawless, noting his engagement in multiple unscripted events throughout the day.
Addressing the Republican Party’s continued support for Trump despite legal challenges, Fetterman expressed bemusement, remarking, “It’s strange why Republicans seem to embrace that a felon is at the top of their ticket and they’re proud of that, and they dress like him.”
Fetterman, who faced health challenges himself in 2022 due to a stroke, has been vocal in his endorsement of Biden post-debate, underscoring his belief in Biden’s leadership and capabilities.
