Facing pressure from his own political party to step down, Biden will sit down one-on-one with NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt at the White House, as confirmed by a network spokesperson to USA TODAY. Originally set to take place in Austin, Texas, the interview was relocated after Biden rescheduled his Austin visit due to the recent events involving Trump.
Biden’s Recent Media Appearances
This interview marks the latest in a series of national media appearances following Biden’s widely criticized debate performance on June 27. During a Sunday night address, Biden condemned political violence and urged Americans to ease partisan tensions after a gunman opened fire at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, injuring Trump’s right ear, killing one spectator, and critically injuring two others.
At the NATO Summit on Thursday, Biden spent an hour answering reporter questions at a press conference, reaffirming his commitment to staying on the ballot. “I’m not in this for my legacy. I’m in this to complete the job that I started,” Biden stated. “If I slow down and can’t get the job done, that’s a sign I shouldn’t be doing it, but there’s no indication of that yet, none.”
