Actor Jon Voight, a prominent supporter of Donald Trump, voiced his frustration with his daughter Angelina Jolie’s political views, particularly regarding her stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict. The conversation, detailed in Variety’s write-up by Stephen Rodrick, reveals a deep rift between the father and daughter over their differing perspectives on the ongoing conflict.

Voight, a staunch advocate for Israel, has criticized Jolie for her outspoken condemnation of the country’s actions in Gaza. The actor believes his daughter has been misled by what he describes as “propaganda” and “antisemitic” influences. Jolie’s criticism of Israel, which includes accusations of deliberate attacks on civilians and labeling Gaza as an “open-air prison,” has sparked a heated response from Voight.

During the interview, Voight expressed his discontent with Jolie’s position, attributing her views to her connections with the United Nations and the information she has been exposed to. He claimed that Hollywood, where Jolie is a prominent figure, operates within a “bubble” and is disconnected from the real situation on the ground.

“I love my daughter. I don’t want to fight with my daughter,” Voight said. “But the fact is, I think she has been influenced by the U.N. From the beginning, it’s been awful with human rights. They call it human rights, but it’s just anti-Israel bashing.”

Despite their disagreements, Voight acknowledged his deep affection for Jolie, highlighting their recent collaborative work on a stage production of The Outsiders. He spoke emotionally about his feelings when Jolie is distressed, expressing his own struggles with her challenges.

Voight, who has become well-known in Hollywood not only for his acting but also for his vocal support of Trump, hopes that recent events, including the attempted assassination of Trump, might shift public perception of both himself and the former president.

“Now, after this, maybe they will look at Jon Voight in a different way. If Donald Trump is being revealed in this way, maybe they will see a supporter like me in a different light,” he said.

As the Israel-Hamas conflict continues to be a contentious issue, Voight’s comments underscore the polarized nature of the debate and the personal impact it has had on his relationship with his daughter.
