Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra may be in for a major redesign, but recent leaks suggest that its battery specs will remain largely unchanged. According to tipster Ice Universe, the new flagship will retain the same 5,000mAh battery capacity and 45W wired charging speed as its predecessors. This comes as a surprise to many, given that the S25 Ultra is expected to come with a premium price tag.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, launched earlier this year, already boasts impressive battery performance, offering nearly 17 hours of usage on a single charge—an improvement from around 12 hours seen in the S20 Ultra. Despite this, the lack of a battery upgrade in the Galaxy S25 Ultra could be seen as a missed opportunity for Samsung to push the envelope further.
While Samsung’s 45W charging speed remains competitive, its rivals are closing the gap. The Google Pixel 8 Pro, for instance, comes with a slightly larger 5,050mAh battery, and the Asus ROG Phone 8 features a substantial 5,500mAh battery, which lasted nearly 19 hours in testing. This incremental increase in battery size among competitors highlights the growing expectations for flagship smartphones.
The S25 Ultra is rumored to focus its upgrades on other aspects, such as its camera system and design. Speculations suggest a revamped quad-lens rear camera setup featuring a 200MP primary lens, a 50MP super-telephoto lens, a secondary 50MP telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultrawide lens. Additionally, the device might adopt a more rounded, slimmer design reminiscent of the Galaxy Note 7.
As always, these details should be taken with caution until Samsung officially unveils the Galaxy S25 series, expected early in 2025. For the latest updates and rumors, stay tuned to our Galaxy S25 Ultra hub.
