Huge Boost For Kamala Harris As Former Obama Campaign Team Joins Her Camp Ahead Of DNC Meeting

Vice President Kamala Harris is making a major push in her presidential bid by bringing several high-profile former Obama campaign staffers into her team. This move follows President Joe Biden’s recent announcement that he will not seek reelection, allowing Harris to redefine her campaign strategy as she steps forward as the Democratic nominee.

According to The Hill’s report on August 2, 2024, Harris’s campaign is set to retain much of the leadership from Biden’s campaign, with Jen O’Malley Dillon continuing as campaign chair. O’Malley Dillon will now report directly to Harris, ensuring a smooth transition and integration of new strategies and personnel.

Among the notable additions to Harris’s campaign is David Plouffe, a key strategist from Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns. Plouffe, who has also worked with TikTok and co-hosted a podcast with former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, will serve as a senior adviser. His expertise is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the campaign’s direction.

Stephanie Cutter, Obama’s deputy campaign manager in 2012, will join Harris’s campaign as a strategic adviser. Her experience in high-stakes electoral battles will provide valuable insights and strategies to build a robust campaign infrastructure.

Mitch Stewart, who led Obama’s grassroots efforts, will focus on amplifying grassroots support and organizing in key battleground states. Similarly, David Binder, who managed Obama’s public research operations, will oversee research and polling to better gauge voter sentiments.

Jennifer Palmieri, known for her work as communications director in the Obama White House and on Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, will join as a senior adviser to second gentleman Doug Emhoff. Palmieri’s role will enhance the campaign’s messaging and public engagement efforts.

Julie Chavez Rodriguez will continue as campaign manager, with an expanded focus on key Sun Belt states like Arizona and Nevada, as well as outreach to Latino voters. Recent polls suggest Harris’s competitiveness in these regions compared to Biden’s previous standing against former President Donald Trump.

Harris’s campaign has also demonstrated impressive fundraising capabilities, raising $310 million in July alone, with over $200 million coming in the week following her official candidacy announcement. This financial boost underscores the campaign’s growing support base and its potential to mount a strong challenge in the upcoming election.

As Harris’s campaign evolves with a fortified team and a focus on key voter demographics and battleground states, she aims to build on her momentum and solidify her position as the leading Democratic contender for the 2024 presidential election.
