Surprising twist at the online “Comics for Kamala” fundraiser, actor Nick Offerman delivered a stinging critique of Donald Trump and other Republicans through a humorous song. The event, held on Monday, aimed to support Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign and was co-organized by Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.).
Offerman, known for his role on “Parks and Recreation,” used the occasion to lampoon the former president and his allies with a musical performance set to the tune of “God Bless The USA.” His song, aimed at Republicans who are reconsidering their support, was both blunt and comedic.
The actor’s lyrics included sharp criticisms, highlighting his discontent with Trump and his associates. “So I’m proud to be a Kamala man who has quit the GOP ’cause I just can’t abide a man who’s tried for 34 felonies,” Offerman sang. “And it’s time to stand up and face the fact that the men that I once cheered are a bunch of wingnut white nationalists. Well, those guys are fucking weird.”
He continued to mock Trump with lines like, “Well, I bought me a Trump Bible ’cause, like me, he’s a man of God, but when he rants about sharks and batteries, I find that doddering old man kind of odd.”
The three-hour virtual event proved to be a financial success, raising over $530,000 for Kamala Harris’ campaign. Offerman’s performance was a standout moment, capturing the event’s spirit of humor and political commentary.
