Netflix has just renewed its dark and gripping superhero series, “Supacell,” for a second season. The show made waves upon its release at the end of June, quickly climbing the ranks to become a Netflix top 10 hit with a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
“Supacell” centers around five ordinary Black individuals who suddenly gain superpowers. As they grapple with their new abilities and the challenges of everyday life, a lone hero is determined to protect the woman he loves from a dangerous organization.
Season 1 concluded with significant developments, including the death of the ruthless gang leader, Krazy (played by Ghetts). However, the true masterminds behind the chaos were revealed only after the credits rolled. It was unveiled that Krazy was under the influence of Ray (Eddie Marsan), who was secretly monitoring the heroes. The mastermind behind the scenes, Victoria (Sian Brooke), also surfaced, making it clear that Ray had failed to meet her expectations.
The post-credits scene of Season 1 deepened the intrigue, showcasing Ray passing by several super-powered prisoners, including Sabrina’s (Nadine Mills) long-lost sister, Sharleen (Rayxia Ojo). This development hints at a deeper exploration of The Organisation and its connections in the upcoming season.
Rapman, the show’s creator, has hinted at what fans can expect from Season 2. He mentioned in an interview with Netflix Tudum, “Season one is like my Batman Begins — it’s an introduction to what these characters will become. Season two is where we’ll truly see their evolution. The future seen at the end of the pilot no longer exists; they’ve changed everything.”
He also suggested that viewers might witness a darker transformation in protagonist Michael (Tosin Cole) due to the tragic loss of his loved one. “You can have the nicest person in the world. Push them too far, and with extraordinary power, you could create something very dangerous,” Rapman noted.
