Suri Cruise, the daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, is beginning a new chapter as she starts her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The 18-year-old was spotted settling into her dorm with the help of her mother, Katie Holmes, who is known for her role in “Dawson’s Creek.”
Suri’s move to Carnegie Mellon marks a significant transition from her previous luxurious living arrangements. The university’s largest dorm, Donner House, which hosts around 250 first-year students, will be her new home. There’s also Scobell House, a smaller, women-only residence that accommodates 88 students. Despite the more modest accommodations, Carnegie Mellon offers numerous amenities, including a variety of dining options and a wellness center.
An insider told MailOnline that Suri is enthusiastic about experiencing campus life, including living with a roommate. “Suri wants the full college experience, so she is giving the dorm rooms a try,” the source shared.
As Suri embarks on this exciting journey, her father, Tom Cruise, is busy filming “Mission: Impossible 8” and recently wrapped up stunts for the Paris Olympic Games. Meanwhile, Katie Holmes, who is also involved in the entertainment industry, expressed her hopes for Suri to pursue a career in showbiz. Holmes, who featured Suri in the credits of her 2022 film “Alone Together,” has spoken about the close-knit environment on her film sets. She has shared, “I hope she always does something on my films. It’s a safe, beautiful, creative space.”
Holmes has also recently discussed her feelings about the potential revival of “Dawson’s Creek,” expressing concerns that updating the beloved series might tarnish its legacy. “The show was a time capsule,” she noted at the Kering Women in Motion talks during the Cannes Film Festival. “To put it into today’s world might tarnish it a little bit.”
Suri’s move to college symbolizes a significant milestone for the young adult, marking the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in her life.
