In a recent interview, Fox News host Howard Kurtz confronted former President Donald Trump over his controversial claims regarding Haitians in Springfield, Ohio. During the broadcast on Sunday, Kurtz pointedly questioned Trump about his assertion that residents were facing extreme situations, including claims that Haitians were consuming pets.
Kurtz began the exchange by referencing Trump’s statement, which went viral, saying, “But when you said, you know, it’s gone viral, they’re eating the dogs, they’re eating the cats. But why not say now, well, look, that turned out not to be true?”
In response, Trump seemed uncertain, stating, “I don’t know if it’s true or not true.” Kurtz seized the moment, insisting, “It’s been debunked by the officials,” aiming to clarify the misinformation surrounding the issue.
Unfazed, Trump shifted the conversation, mentioning, “What about the goose? The geese? They’re all missing. It was one guy with two geese.” This comment only added to the confusion surrounding his claims.
Trump continued to express his concerns about the influx of Haitians into Springfield, arguing, “The big problem is that you can’t put 30,000 people into a 50,000-person town or city and expect this city to even survive or do well.” He emphasized that he believed the situation had unfairly affected the residents of Springfield, stating, “What they’ve done to Springfield, Ohio, is very, very unfair. And I mean, there are a lot of stories.”
Despite Trump’s insistence that there were many stories to tell, Kurtz reiterated the facts, saying, “Well, I think it’s been debunked by local officials.” Trump, however, dismissed this assertion, claiming, “I don’t think it’s been debunked at all. I think nobody talks about it except you.”
