Anthony “The Mooch” Scaramucci has sparked controversy by calling for Donald Trump to be arrested, citing a violation of his bail agreement due to recent remarks about Liz Cheney. During an event in Glendale, Arizona, on October 31, Trump was questioned by former Fox News host Tucker Carlson regarding Cheney, a prominent critic of his. Trump’s response included a shocking statement: “She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with the rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. OK, let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face.”

Scaramucci, who briefly served as Trump’s press secretary, reacted swiftly on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Trump should be taken into custody. He is a convicted felon and just violated the conditions of his bail agreement by threatening someone’s life. He needs to be sent away.” This call for action has raised eyebrows, particularly as it remains unclear which specific bail condition Scaramucci believes Trump has breached. Newsweek has reached out to him for clarification.

A Harvard Law School graduate, Scaramucci has taken a strong stance against Trump throughout the election cycle, labeling him unfit for office. He has previously claimed that Trump has lost his will to fight and has shown support for Vice President Kamala Harris, especially since she stepped in for President Joe Biden. Scaramucci has not shied away from making light of Trump in the past, even highlighting jokes about the former president’s “tiny hands.”

After his brief tenure with the Trump administration, Scaramucci initially backed Trump’s reelection campaign but distanced himself in August 2019. In June 2020, he co-founded the Right Side PAC, which aimed to rally voters in swing states around alternative candidates. His criticisms of Trump extend to various incidents, including behavior at Arlington Cemetery, which he condemned during a CNN interview.

Currently, Trump is navigating bail restrictions imposed by the state of Georgia as part of an ongoing investigation into his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing in this matter. His legal challenges are compounded by a recent conviction in New York, where he was found guilty of 34 counts related to hush money payments. Although his sentencing was initially scheduled for September 18, it has been postponed until after the upcoming election, and Trump has indicated he may appeal this ruling.
