Billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk is unleashing an all-out assault on the American judiciary, flooding social media with over 20 fiery posts in just 48 hours. Branding federal judges as “radical leftist activists,” Musk is spearheading an unprecedented campaign to have them removed from office—calling it a “judicial coup.”
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO, who also serves as a senior adviser to Donald Trump, erupted after a judge ruled that his sweeping overhaul of USAID likely violated the U.S. Constitution. Furious at the decision, Musk took to X, the social media platform he owns, demanding that lawmakers “impeach the judges” and offering financial incentives to rally public support against them.
Musk’s Political War Chest: Cash for Compliance
Musk isn’t just venting online—he’s putting his vast fortune to work. The billionaire has funneled donations into the campaigns of seven Republican lawmakers who support removing judges he opposes. Additionally, his political action group, America PAC, is offering registered voters in Wisconsin $100 to sign a petition against “activist judges.”

More than 20 lawsuits challenge his aggressive restructuring of federal agencies, where thousands of employees have been fired and access to sensitive government data has been seized.

Legal challenges against Doge have already led to court-ordered transparency measures and reversals of Musk’s rapid reforms. Just this week, a Maryland judge ruled that Musk’s takeover of USAID was likely unconstitutional, forcing the Trump administration to halt firings and restore agency access to critical systems. In another blow, a court blocked Doge’s access to Social Security Administration databases, citing privacy concerns and security risks.
Even Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts stepped in, issuing a rare public statement condemning the calls for impeachment, stating: “For more than two centuries, it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision.”
Musk, unfazed, fired back the next day: “For more than two centuries, there has never been such extreme abuse of the legal system by activists pretending to be judges. Impeach them.”

El Salvador’s authoritarian leader Nayib Bukele, who purged his own country’s supreme court in 2021, also jumped into the conversation.
