The wife and five children of Mohamed Sabry Soliman—the man accused of launching a fiery assault on a pro-Israel demonstration in Boulder, Colorado—have been taken into federal custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). According to a senior Department of Homeland Security official, the family is being processed for expedited removal from the United States.

Soliman, an Egyptian national, allegedly hurled Molotov cocktails into a crowd gathered outside the Boulder County Courthouse on Sunday, injuring twelve people and leaving two hospitalized. Authorities say the attack was not random, but part of a carefully planned act of terror.

Court documents reveal that Soliman had overstayed his B1/B2 tourist visa, which expired in early 2023. Although he briefly held a temporary work permit, it lapsed in March 2025, making his presence in the U.S. unlawful.

Federal investigators say Soliman had been plotting the attack for at least a year. He reportedly told officers he postponed the act until after his daughter’s high school graduation. Disguised as a landscaper, Soliman carried out the attack during a peaceful weekly rally organized by Run for Their Lives—an advocacy group calling for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas since October 7, 2023.

The violence turned what had been a routine community gathering into chaos. Flames erupted, people fled, and the scene quickly descended into panic. “This was not a spur-of-the-moment act,” a DHS official stated. “It was premeditated and executed with clear intent to cause harm.”

Soliman showed no remorse during his interrogation. He allegedly admitted that his goal was to kill “Zionist people,” and declared he would do it again if given the chance.

The incident has prompted Run for Their Lives to pause its weekly events while organizers assess new safety protocols. Yet, Omer Shachar, one of the group’s local leaders, says their mission remains unchanged. “As long as it’s possible and we’re working with law enforcement, I will continue to walk,” he said. “I will walk until the last hostage is brought home.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed the incident in a stern statement, signaling the administration’s zero-tolerance stance: “In light of yesterday’s horrific attack, all terrorists, their family members, and terrorist sympathizers here on a visa should know that under the Trump Administration we will find you, revoke your visa, and deport you.”

Soliman is now facing a series of federal and state charges, including attempted murder, terrorism, and unlawful use of incendiary weapons. Investigators are combing through video evidence and digital communications to determine if he acted alone or had outside support.
