A recent CNN NewsNight interview, Pam Hemphill, once a dedicated Trump supporter, shed light on her belief that Donald Trump orchestrated the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. Hemphill, now sentenced to two months in prison for her involvement, claimed Trump wanted the people to attack the Capitol.

Speaking to CNN’s Abby Phillip, Hemphill described her changing perspective on Trump, asserting that he had transformed the MAGA movement into a cult, manipulating and deceiving his followers. She accused Trump of initially using love bombing tactics to lead his supporters into what she now sees as a dangerous cult mentality.

Expressing concern about the Republican Party’s future, Hemphill hinted at a mysterious Project 2025 and alleged ambitions for dictatorial rule that could threaten democracy.

When questioned about Trump’s role in the Capitol events, Hemphill insisted he knew the election wasn’t stolen and intentionally directed his supporters towards the Capitol. She emphasized Trump’s responsibility for his words, particularly his call to go fight like hell, which she believes some took literally, contributing to the chaos.

Regarding potential consequences for Trump, Hemphill expressed confidence in Department of Justice Special Counsel Jack Smith, currently prosecuting Trump over attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. Hemphill stated, I think we can have a lot of faith in Jack Smith. He’s got the receipts.

In a surprising twist, Hemphill revealed her intention to vote for President Joe Biden in the 2024 election, concluding the interview with a plea to Trump: retire and get honest. While expressing skepticism about Trump’s responsiveness, Hemphill hopes legal proceedings will bring him to justice for what she sees as harm to the nation.
