Struggles continue for Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets as the NFL has opted to remove them from the coveted Sunday Night Football slot for Week 11. This decision comes after a difficult start to the 2024 NFL season, despite the Jets’ recent victory over the Houston Texans, which ended a five-game losing streak.
Initially, the Jets were slated to play six prime-time games this season, along with a London matchup. Hopes were high as the team looked to bounce back following Rodgers’ Achilles injury that sidelined him just four snaps into the heavily anticipated 2023 season. Fans across the nation and around the globe had their eyes on the green half of New York City as the AFC East franchise was primed for a spotlight.
However, the Jets have struggled to meet expectations. With a current record of 3-6, they find themselves outside the AFC playoff picture and have suffered disappointing losses to teams like the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos. Despite their recent 21-13 win against the Texans, the NFL has decided that the Jets’ prime-time allure has diminished.

The league has flexed the Jets’ upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts out of prime time in favor of the Los Angeles Chargers’ matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. Although the Bengals (4-5) and Chargers (5-4) are not having stellar seasons, the league seems to believe that the star power of quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert outweighs the ongoing struggles of Rodgers and the Jets.
In their win against the Texans, Rodgers completed 22 of 32 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns. A standout performance came from Davante Adams, who racked up 91 receiving yards and scored a touchdown. This marked a significant achievement for Adams since his arrival via trade.
Unfortunately for the Jets, the NFL did not see them as deserving of a prime-time feature. The Colts, who are also struggling, faced a disappointing performance against the Minnesota Vikings, losing 21-13 with Joe Flacco throwing for just 179 yards and one interception.
Looking ahead, the Jets will face the Colts in an early game on Sunday in Week 11. Following that, the Jets will head to State Farm Stadium to take on the 5-4 Arizona Cardinals on November 10. As the season unfolds, fans will be watching closely to see if Rodgers and the Jets can turn their fortunes around and reclaim their place in the spotlight.
