Actor Tyrese Gibson has been arrested for failing to pay $73,000 in child support for his 5-year-old daughter, Soraya, whom he shares with ex-wife Samantha Lee. The Fast & Furious star, 45, appeared before Judge Kevin Farmer, who expressed frustration over Gibson’s continued non-payment of court-ordered child support.
Earlier this year, the court had mandated that Gibson pay $10,000 per month in child support, starting in April 2023. However, after several months of non-compliance, the judge found the actor in contempt of court. During the hearing, Gibson was placed in handcuffs and briefly taken into custody.
Judge Farmer stated that Gibson could avoid further legal trouble by paying a total of $73,000, which includes the owed back payments along with $7,500 in attorney fees for Samantha Lee.
This arrest follows a now-deleted Instagram post by Gibson, in which he hinted at a potential arrest as early as Monday morning. Despite his $4 million net worth, according to Celebrity Net Worth, the actor has struggled to meet his financial obligations.
