According to a new book by Brian Stelter, Fox News host Jeanine Pirro’s show was canceled due to her unwavering support for former President Trump. The book, titled “Network of Lies: The Epic Saga of Fox News, Donald Trump, and the Battle for American Democracy,” alleges that Pirro’s transition to The Five was a demotion intended to reduce her influence at the network.
Pirro was reportedly described as a “reckless maniac” by her own executive producer, and her confrontational behavior eventually led Fox executives to pull the plug on her show. She was then moved to The Five, where she has less control over the content of the show.
While Pirro’s move to The Five has resulted in a larger viewership, Stelter argues that it is not the most suitable role for her. The book also claims that Pirro’s unwavering support for Trump caused problems within Fox News, leading to clashes with executives who grew weary of her sensationalist approach.
Overall, the book paints a picture of a troubled relationship between Pirro and Fox News. It remains to be seen whether she will be able to maintain her position at the network in the long term.
PIRRO HAD BECOME SO UNMANAGEABLE THAT HER OWN EXECUTIVE PRODUCER HAD CALLED HER A “RECKLESS MANIAC,” AS A FILING IN THE DOMINION LAWSUIT PREVIOUSLY INDICATED. AND ACCORDING TO STELTER, THAT RECKLESSNESS LED TO FOX EXECUTIVES CANCELING HER SHOW.
AS A RESULT, SINCE “NOBODY WANTED TO DEAL WITH HER,” ACCORDING TO ONE OF THE SOURCES, PIRRO WAS MOVED TO THE FIVE, WHERE SHE COULD NO LONGER WRITE MONOLOGUES OR CHOOSE HER OWN GUESTS.
WHILE PIRRO’S “DEMOTION” TO THE FIVE RESULTED IN HER GAINING A FAR LARGER VIEWERSHIP, STELTER WROTE THAT “IT WAS POINTED OUT TO ME THAT THE FIVE IS NOT THE CUSHIEST JOB FOR A SEVENTY-SOMETHING FORMER PROSECUTOR TO HOLD,” AND THAT THE SWITCH UP MADE IT EASIER FOR “THE MANAGERS AND LAWYERS.”
