Former President Donald Trump has delivered a stark warning to Mexico, suggesting that the country may face obliteration if World War III were to erupt. Trump made this statement during an interview with Univision host Enrique Acevedo, which aired late Thursday.
In the interview, Trump emphasized the potential devastation caused by nuclear weapons in the event of a global conflict. He stated, “You could end up in World War III. And if World War III happens, probably Mexico will no longer be around. Because the power of nuclear weapons is so big, if they hit us, you’re gonna be wiped out too. That’s how bad it is.”
Drawing a comparison between the threat of nuclear war and environmental concerns, Trump underscored the urgency of addressing the possibility of global conflict. He expressed his skepticism about the significance of environmental issues, stating, “When I hear these people talking about the environment and, over a 300-year period, ‘the oceans will rise by one one-hundredth of an inch, and this is such a threat.’ It’s not a threat. The threat is not global warming; it’s nuclear warming. It’s the single biggest threat to your country, to our county, to every country.”
President Joe Biden, on the other hand, has identified climate change as an “even more frightening” threat compared to nuclear war. National Security Council (NSC) Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby reiterated the president’s stance, affirming that Biden “absolutely” stands by his September remarks.
The backdrop of Trump’s warning comes amid heightened international tensions, particularly following the October 7 attacks against Israel by Hamas, an Islamic terror group. In response to the attacks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on October 9 that Israel’s retaliation would “echo for generations.” The geopolitical landscape remains tense as nations navigate the complexities of these global challenges.
