A move to thwart Nikki Haley’s presence in the GOP primary race, Donald Trump is proactively excluding her supporters from the MAGA camp.
On Wednesday night, the former president took to social media to declare his refusal to accept donations from individuals contributing to Haley’s campaign. Trump emphasized, “Anybody that makes a ‘Contribution’ to Birdbrain, from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp. We don’t want them, and will not accept them, because we Put America First, and ALWAYS WILL!”
This statement followed Trump’s victory in New Hampshire, where he secured a win over the former South Carolina governor for the second time, despite significant backing from major GOP donors for Haley’s campaign. Calls for Haley to withdraw and throw her support behind Trump emerged among the former president and his supporters even before the voting commenced.
However, Trump’s post did not specify the method of enforcing the prohibition on donations.
Despite her defeat in the Granite State on Tuesday night, Haley asserted that the race was “far from over,” pledging to persist in challenging the former president for the GOP nomination.
During a rally in South Carolina on Wednesday, Haley informed the audience that her campaign had garnered $1 million, primarily through small-dollar donations since Tuesday night. She stated, “We have raised $1 million since I gave that speech last night — online, in small dollars. We have had 200,000 donors from all 50 states. Ninety-five percent of those donations are $200 or less.”
In response to Trump’s announcement on X (formerly known as Twitter), Haley quipped, “Well in that case…donate here. Let’s Go!”
