Following her passing last year at the age of 84, actress Angela Thorne, known for her roles in “To the Manor Born” and “The Human Factor,” has left a substantial estate valued at £1.6 million to her two sons, Rupert and Laurence Penry-Jones.
Angela Thorne passed away peacefully at her home on June 16, leaving behind a legacy of memorable performances on both television and the stage. Her estate includes two valuable properties: a coastal home in Anglesey bequeathed to Rupert Penry-Jones, 53, known for his roles in “Spooks” and “Whitechapel,” and a flat in Lavender Hill, South London, inherited by Laurence Penry-Jones, 47, a former actor known for his work in “Waking The Dead.” The remainder of Angela’s estate will be shared equally between her sons.
Angela’s career spanned decades, with notable performances in theater, television, and film. She began her acting journey with the Caryl Jenner Children’s Theatre before joining the Ralph Richardson Theatre company at the Haymarket Theatre. Her portrayal of Marjory Frobisher in “To the Manor Born” remains iconic, and she received acclaim for her Olivier Award-nominated portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in “Anyone for Denis?”
Married to Peter Penry-Jones in 1967, Angela shared a deep connection with her family, appearing alongside her husband and sons in various projects, including episodes of “To the Manor Born.” Peter passed away in 2009 after battling bowel cancer.
Born in Karachi, British India, in 1939, Angela’s early years were spent in India before pursuing her passion for acting. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama on a scholarship, laying the foundation for her successful career.
Angela’s contributions to British entertainment will be remembered fondly, and her generous bequest to her sons ensures her legacy lives on.
