Former Love Island star Laura Anderson has opened up about her challenging situation with Hollyoaks actor Gary Lucy, revealing that he hasn’t seen their daughter Bonnie Rose since January. The 34-year-old TV personality, known for her time on ITV2’s Love Island and Channel 4’s Celebs Go Dating, expressed her frustration on social media amid ongoing questions from fans.
The couple, who met during their appearance on Celebs Go Dating, experienced a whirlwind romance that led to Laura giving birth to Bonnie Rose in September last year. Despite initial efforts to reconcile around the time of their daughter’s birth, their relationship took a turn, and they eventually parted ways for good.
In April, Laura took to social media to address the absence of Gary Lucy in Bonnie’s life, stating, “How anyone could go without seeing their child is beyond me. I love you, Bonnie Rose.” Her candid remarks came in response to queries from her followers, prompting her to clarify that Gary hadn’t seen their daughter since January 2nd.
Last week, Laura responded to an online troll questioning Bonnie’s relationship with her father, asserting, “No, he hasn’t seen her since 2nd January if you would like to direct those questions to him as I have no control over the actions of others.” She further pleaded with her followers to stop pressuring her about the situation, emphasizing that she focuses on being a dedicated mother to Bonnie.
Addressing the ongoing scrutiny, Laura shared on Instagram, “Please stop sending me messages, ‘why does Bonnie not see her dad?’ direct your questions to her father. I have zero desire to understand yet explain someone else’s choices anymore.” She expressed her commitment to balancing motherhood with her career, recently securing her ‘dream job’ at Capital Radio.
Gary Lucy, who shares four other children from his previous marriage to Natasha Gray, has not publicly responded to Laura’s recent comments. The Mirror reached out to his representatives for comment, but there has been no statement issued yet.
Despite the challenges of being a single mother unexpectedly, Laura remains steadfast in her role, stating, “I think it was hard to get my head around initially, it wasn’t what I expected. But that’s the cards I was dealt in the end. Of course, I’m going to make it work for my child, even more so. I feel like I’m a really good mum, to be honest.”
The situation between Laura Anderson and Gary Lucy continues to unfold amidst public scrutiny, highlighting the complexities of co-parenting in the public eye and the personal challenges faced by single parents in navigating their children’s relationships with absent parents.
