Former President Donald Trump has publicly distanced himself from Project 2025, a controversial right-wing agenda reportedly spearheaded by key figures from his administration. Despite ties to former officials like Paul Dans, Ben Carson, Peter Navarro, and Russ Vought, Trump asserted on Truth Social that he has no involvement with the initiative.
“I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it,” Trump stated, expressing disagreement with aspects of the agenda as “absolutely ridiculous and abysmal.” He wished them luck but emphasized his lack of association.
Project 2025, championed by the Heritage Foundation and other conservative groups, outlines a comprehensive policy framework intended for a potential second Trump term. Notable among its proposals is a controversial plan to reclassify government workers under Schedule F, a move criticized for potentially weakening job protections and enabling arbitrary dismissals.
In response, critics, including the Biden-Harris campaign, have characterized Project 2025 as a blueprint for unchecked executive power, describing it as a threat to democratic norms and essential public services. They argue that implementing Schedule F could undermine governmental integrity and harm vital programs such as Social Security.
The development of Project 2025 has stirred significant debate, underscoring divisions within conservative circles and raising concerns about the future direction of U.S. governance.
