Taylor Swift has publicly addressed the recent cancellation of her Eras Tour concerts in Vienna, which were scheduled from August 8 to 10. The decision to cancel these shows was prompted by a terror threat, and authorities have since made two arrests in connection with the incident.
In an Instagram post following the conclusion of her European tour, which included several successful shows in London, Swift expressed her deep disappointment and concern over the Vienna cancellations. She described the situation as “devastating” and admitted to experiencing a “new sense of fear” and “tremendous amount of guilt” over the disruption.
Swift’s post highlighted her gratitude towards the authorities who acted swiftly to prevent any harm. She stated, “Having our Vienna shows canceled was devastating. The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows. But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives.”
She also praised the solidarity and support from her fans during this challenging time. Swift noted that her focus shifted to ensuring the safety of her upcoming London shows. “My team and I worked hand in hand with stadium staff and British authorities every day in pursuit of that goal, and I want to thank them for everything they did for us,” she added.
Swift emphasized her commitment to protecting her fans and clarified that she would avoid discussing sensitive details publicly to not provoke potential threats. “Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows,” she explained.
The singer concluded her message with relief over the safe completion of her European tour, expressing her determination to prioritize the safety and well-being of her audience.
