In a video posted on Instagram, the Oscar-winning actor highlighted the link between climate change and recent devastating hurricanes, naming Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton as examples of the rising environmental toll.
“These unnatural disasters were caused by climate change,” DiCaprio stated, emphasizing how climate-related issues are becoming increasingly destructive. Pointing to Trump’s previous actions, DiCaprio added, “Donald Trump continues to deny the facts. He continues to deny the science.” The actor also criticized Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accords and the rollback of critical environmental protections, asserting that Trump has jeopardized progress for the benefit of big oil and gas companies.
DiCaprio warned that Trump’s promises to reduce regulations in exchange for financial backing from fossil fuel industries could lead to irreversible harm, both to the environment and the economy. He stressed the urgency of addressing climate change: “Climate change is killing the earth and ruining our economy. We need a bold step forward to save our economy, our planet, and ourselves.”
