As the NFL trade deadline approaches on November 5, 2024, the Minnesota Vikings have emerged as a potential landing spot for two-time All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White of the Los Angeles Rams. The Vikings have faced significant challenges in their cornerback position this season, starting with the tragic death of rookie Khyree Jackson and the recent ACL injury to third-round pick Mekhi Blackmon during training camp.
Recognizing their need for reinforcements, the Vikings signed veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore to a one-year, $10 million contract. Gilmore’s experience in defensive coordinator Brian Flores’ system made him a logical choice. This situation makes him an intriguing option for teams looking for cornerback depth.
Despite their interest in strengthening the secondary, the Vikings face challenges in making a trade. They were aggressive during the 2024 NFL Draft, trading up to acquire key players like J.J. McCarthy and Dallas Turner. Currently, Minnesota has limited draft pick flexibility, with just three selections remaining for the 2025 draft. Additionally, they traded away a sixth-round pick in 2026 for running back Cam Akers earlier this month.
