Former Attorney General Bill Barr recently made headlines during a CNN interview, discussing his decision to vote for Donald Trump in the 2020 elections and shedding light on Trump’s temperament during his presidency.
Barr addressed previous claims made by Alyssa Farah Griffin, former White House communications director, regarding a conversation in which Trump reportedly suggested executing a White House leaker. Barr recalled Trump’s anger during the incident but stopped short of confirming the exact wording, acknowledging that Trump would sometimes “lose his temper” and make extreme statements.
This admission raises questions about Trump’s rhetoric and the seriousness with which his statements were taken. Barr mentioned that Trump’s remarks were often taken too literally and were mostly expressions of frustration rather than actual threats.
Despite Collins’ challenge on the potential threat posed by Trump’s statements, Barr maintained that he did not perceive an actual threat, based on his experience working with Trump. He emphasized that, in his view, Trump would not actually carry out actions like executing political rivals.

The interview also touched upon Barr’s endorsement of Trump during the 2020 elections, despite his earlier warning about voting for Trump. Barr downplayed his previous statement, referring to Trump’s response as “Classic Trump.”
Barr’s remarks concluded with criticism of the Biden administration, suggesting that the real threat to democracy stemmed from the current administration, contrasting it with Trump, who is facing indictment for his role in the January 6 insurrection.
