Scathing rebuke, President Joe Biden took aim at Donald Trump’s recent business venture while addressing the overturning of abortion rights.
During a speech on Tuesday, Biden didn’t hold back as he mocked Trump’s promotion of the “God Bless The USA Bible,” a $60 product created in collaboration with country singer Lee Greenwood. The audience burst into laughter as Biden linked Trump’s praise of the recent Dobbs decision to his attempt to sell Bibles, saying, “Maybe it’s coming from that Bible he’s trying to sell.”
Trump’s endorsed Bible includes the text of the Bible along with the lyrics to Greenwood’s hit song “God Bless The USA,” as well as the texts of the Pledge of Allegiance, the Bill of Rights, the U.S. Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence. However, despite Trump’s promotion, the product has been receiving poor reviews and complaints of sticky pages.
Biden pointed out Trump’s role in appointing conservative Supreme Court justices, which led to the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs case. He accused Trump of making a calculated deal with evangelical voters, promising to appoint justices who would overturn the decision in exchange for their votes.
“Trump bragged how proud he was to get rid of Roe v Wade. He took credit for it,” Biden said. “He said ‘there has to be punishment’ for women exercising reproductive freedom.”
Biden’s criticism comes as Democrats aim to mobilize voter anger over abortion restrictions, hoping to put states like Florida, which Trump won twice, into play in the upcoming November elections.
