The 2024 Paris Olympics are proving to be a star-studded affair, and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has joined the roster of high-profile attendees. On July 29, Gates, 68, was seen at the artistic gymnastics events, a testament to his ongoing support for the games and his family.
Gates’ presence at the Olympics comes amid a flurry of celebrity sightings. Alongside Gates, other A-listers such as Tom Cruise, Mick Jagger, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, John Legend, Pharrell Williams, and Celine Dion have been spotted enjoying the world-class athletic competition.
Gates is in Paris not just for the spectacle but also to cheer on his son-in-law, Nayel Nassar. Nassar, who competes for Team Egypt in equestrian events, is making his mark at the Olympics. Gates and Nassar share a close bond, which was highlighted in January when Gates celebrated Nassar’s 33rd birthday on Instagram. Gates posted a heartfelt message, praising Nassar for being a devoted father to his granddaughter, Leila.
Nassar and Gates’ daughter, Jennifer Gates, tied the knot in October 2021 in a picturesque ceremony at a farm in Westchester County, New York. Jennifer, who earned her master’s degree in public health from Columbia University in May 2023, is also a talented equestrian. Nassar, a 2013 Stanford University graduate with a degree in economics, previously represented Egypt at the 2012 and 2020 Olympics.
The couple’s journey began in early 2017, with their engagement announced in 2020 during a ski trip. Their daughter, Leila, was born in March 2023, marking Gates’ entrance into grandparenthood.
