A senior official at the Pentagon has revealed that Ukrainian forces are teetering on the edge of depleting their ammunition in their relentless battle against Russian aggression.
The shortage, deemed critical by Celeste Wallander, the Defense Department official overseeing international security affairs, not only leaves Kyiv exposed but also grants Moscow an opportunity to exploit weaknesses in Ukraine’s military defenses.
This precarious situation stems from the depletion of U.S. military assistance to Ukraine, a consequence of Congress’s failure to pass President Biden’s emergency funding request for the embattled nation.

Despite Biden’s request, Congress remains entangled in bitter disputes, hindering the passage of a supplemental funding bill urgently needed to address Ukraine’s critical situation.

The most recent U.S. weapons package to Ukraine, announced on December 27, featured $250 million in artillery, air defenses, and other essential equipment.
However, the inconsistency in aid packages has impacted Ukraine’s planning and operations, resulting in shortfalls in critical areas beyond ammunition.
Russia’s calculated response to the ammunition shortage involves launching a surge of missile and drone attacks against Ukraine, aiming to overwhelm its defense capabilities.
