Bronny James, the 19-year-old son of NBA legend LeBron James, continues to make waves in basketball circles as he took part in a pre-NBA draft workout hosted by the Los Angeles Lakers. This session has further ignited speculation about his potential entry into the 2024 NBA Draft, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.
Earlier in May, Bronny James captured attention during the 2024 NBA Scouting Combine with an impressive performance. He showcased his skills with notable statistics, including a remarkable 19 out of 25 shooting accuracy and a strong showing in the 3-point shooting drill. Additionally, his vertical leap of 40.5 inches ranked among the top prospects.
Despite the allure of playing alongside his father, LeBron James, in the professional league—a dream scenario for many fans—Bronny emphasized his focus on forging his own path. Speaking to reporters at the combine, he expressed his dedication to earning his place in the NBA based on his own merits.
“Getting to the league would mean a lot to me personally,” Bronny stated. “I’m focused on putting in the work and letting my journey unfold naturally.”
Bronny’s decision to declare for the NBA Draft raised eyebrows among some observers, especially following a collegiate season at USC where he averaged 4.8 points and 2.1 assists. His journey has not been without challenges, having overcome a health scare prior to his freshman year.
Ranked initially outside the top prospects, Bronny has steadily climbed in evaluations, currently projected at number 53 on CBS Sports’ draft list. Despite his lineage and the associated attention, he remains steadfast in his ambition to carve out his own legacy in basketball.
“I want people to recognize me for who I am—Bronny James,” he asserted. “My goal has always been to establish my identity and achieve my NBA dream.”
As the NBA Draft approaches in late June, all eyes will be on Bronny James as he pursues his aspirations while aiming to step out of his father’s shadow and make a name for himself in professional basketball.
