Callum Wilson, the Newcastle United striker, is attracting interest from four Premier League clubs ahead of the January transfer window. Despite not featuring in any matches this season due to a back injury, the 32-year-old forward’s potential return to fitness has reignited speculation about his future.

Having joined Newcastle from Bournemouth in September 2020, Wilson initially played a crucial role as the team’s main striker. However, his position has shifted since the arrival of Alexander Isak in August 2022, which has seen Wilson take on a secondary role within the squad.

As Newcastle’s current striker struggles with injuries, Brentford, Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Southampton are reportedly monitoring the situation closely. Brentford appears to be leading the chase for Wilson, especially after selling their top striker, Ivan Toney, to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli on August 30. The Bees are keen on finding a replacement and see Wilson as a viable option to bolster their attacking lineup.

Fulham, too, is looking to strengthen its offensive capabilities, currently featuring players like Raul Jimenez, Jay Stansfield, and Rodrigo Muniz. Wilson’s experience and goal-scoring ability could provide the boost they need.

With Wilson now in a second-choice position behind Isak, he seems open to a move away from St James’ Park. Newcastle is reportedly unlikely to hinder a transfer, considering Wilson’s age and ongoing injury concerns. His current contract runs out in the summer, allowing him the opportunity to leave for free after five years with the club.

Since joining Newcastle, Wilson has made 108 appearances, netting 48 goals. As January approaches, the Premier League landscape may see a significant shift if Wilson secures a new home. His next move could be pivotal for both his career and the clubs seeking to add his talents to their squads.
