A recent Face the Nation episode, CBS anchor Margaret Brennan clarified Rep. Mike Turner’s comparison of President Biden and former President Trump regarding handling classified documents. Turner suggested that Biden’s actions were more severe than Trump’s, emphasizing a supposed 10-year period of document hoarding.

Brennan, however, pointed out CBS’s report stating the special counsel’s unlikely pursuit of tax fraud charges against Hunter Biden. Turner continued his criticism, asserting that Biden had hoarded sensitive documents for over a decade, posing a threat to national security.

Brennan countered by noting Trump’s Espionage Act charges for non-cooperation in document submission. She highlighted the distinction, stating, There is a difference with the case against President Trump, who refused to hand over documents fully and violated the Espionage Act.

Turner maintained his stance, arguing that a brief period of cooperation during Trump’s presidency couldn’t justify Biden’s decade-long document hoarding. The discussion raised concerns about transparency and accountability, with Turner emphasizing the extended duration of Biden’s actions.

Biden, Biden, Biden had these documents for over ten years, Turner reiterated. You can’t hoard documents in your home for a decade-long period, concealing them, taking them home as a Senator and Vice President and then suddenly say, hey, two weeks while I was president, I cooperated, and therefore, you know, it doesn’t count that I spent ten years as a serial classified document hoarder.
