Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie didn’t hold back in the recent GOP presidential debate in Alabama. While Donald Trump remained a no-show, Christie criticized not only the former president but also his fellow candidates for tiptoeing around the Trump topic.
Addressing the elephant in the room, Christie expressed his frustration, stating, I’m usually not somebody that gets missed, but okay, let’s go.
Moderator Megyn Kelly pointedly questioned Christie about his evolving stance on Trump, highlighting his previous endorsements and subsequent criticism. Despite Trump’s high approval rating, Christie defended his position, emphasizing the need for honesty in the debate.
Christie called out his opponents for avoiding discussion about Trump, likening them to characters too scared to mention Voldemort, He Who Shall Not Be Named. According to Christie, the reluctance stems from Trump’s dictatorial tendencies and the fear of retaliation for speaking out against him.
The former governor underscored the importance of addressing the truth, asserting, I’m in this race because the truth needs to be spoken. This is a guy who said this past week he wants to use the Department of Justice to go after his enemies when he gets in there. The fact of the matter is he’s unfit to be president. There’s no bigger issue in this race than Donald Trump, and those numbers prove it.
In a debate marked by Trump’s absence, Christie emerged as a vocal critic, urging his fellow candidates to confront the reality of the situation and not shy away from discussing the influential figure in their party.
