Comedian and actor Nikki Glaser, known for her sharp wit and fearless humor, has been chosen to host the upcoming Golden Globe Awards. Glaser, who rose to prominence after her scathing roast of NFL legend Tom Brady, is set to bring her unique brand of comedy to the prestigious event on January 5, 2025. The ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.

In her first statement as host, Glaser expressed her excitement and acknowledged the comedic giants who came before her, including Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Ricky Gervais. “Some of my favorite jokes of all time have come from past Golden Globes opening monologues when Tina, Amy, or Ricky have said exactly what we all didn’t know we desperately needed to hear. I just hope to continue in that time-honored tradition (that might also get me canceled),” she quipped.

Nikki Glaser’s reputation as a fearless comedian was solidified with her recent roast of Tom Brady, where she humorously tackled topics like his complicated love life and his involvement in cryptocurrency. Her popularity surged after the roast, and she even earned an Emmy nomination for her HBO special, “Someday You’ll Die,” where she delved into a range of bold topics, from her friends’ abortions to her deepest porn habits.

Jay Penske, chairman and CEO of Dick Clark Productions and Penske Media Corporation, praised Glaser’s selection as the new host. “Nikki Glaser brings a fresh and unmatched candor to her comedy and to the Golden Globes,” Penske said. “Her unapologetic style made her an obvious and compelling choice as host for this year’s event.”

The 2024 Golden Globes saw a significant boost in viewership, drawing in an average of 9.4 million viewers, a 50% increase from the previous year. The event attracted A-list celebrities like Taylor Swift, Oprah Winfrey, Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, and Leonardo DiCaprio. However, the previous host, Jo Koy, faced criticism for a lackluster opening monologue and a rushed pace. With Glaser at the helm, audiences can expect a night filled with bold humor and unforgettable moments.

Nikki Glaser’s debut as the Golden Globes host promises to be one of the most anticipated events of the award season, as she aims to follow in the footsteps of her comedic idols while bringing her own edgy flair to the stage.
