Roxanne Doucette, a 64-year-old woman from Massachusetts, is facing a slew of charges after allegedly attempting to murder her husband, Paul Doucette, by poisoning his soup. The shocking incident unfolded after Roxanne fell victim to an online scammer posing as Thorsten Kaye, a renowned actor from “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
Roxanne’s daughter, Nicole Heath, made the disturbing discovery when she stumbled upon incriminating messages between her mother and the imposter, who had convinced Roxanne to transfer $8,000. The revelation prompted an investigation that revealed the extent of Roxanne’s alleged plot.
Documents obtained by WCVB detailed a series of messages between Roxanne and the fake “Kaye.” On December 1, “Kaye” urged Roxanne to eliminate her husband, stating, “You have to get rid of your husband honey. I need you so much.” In response, Roxanne mentioned making a special soup, implying the use of a “special potion.” Later that day, she informed “Kaye” that her husband was unwell and hinted at the possibility of collecting life insurance.
The situation took a grave turn when Roxanne dialed 911 at 5:11 p.m. to report her husband’s unresponsiveness. Paul Doucette, 73, was rushed to Nashoba Valley Medical Center, where he regained consciousness after several days. When questioned by Heath, he recalled the soup tasting bitter.
Concerned for her father’s safety, Heath reported the incident to the police on December 3. Subsequently, Roxanne was brought in for questioning. Despite admitting to communicating with the imposter, Roxanne vehemently denied any intent to harm her husband, professing her love for him in an interview with WCVB.
The situation escalated at the police station when officers attempted to confiscate Roxanne’s phone and iPad as evidence. She resisted and, according to WCVB, kicked a police officer in the groin. Roxanne now faces charges of attempted murder, intimidation of a witness, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer, and violating a protective order. The latter charge was added after she breached the court-issued no-contact order by sending a letter to her husband.
Authorities are actively investigating the identity and motives of the online scammer who impersonated Thorsten Kaye. The real actor, unrelated to the case, remains unconnected to the ongoing investigation.
