Donald Trump just took a sledgehammer to Hollywood icon George Clooney in a blistering social media rant, branding the actor a “second-rate movie star” and a “failed political pundit.” The former president’s takedown came after Clooney publicly criticized Trump’s administration and called America “a nation in trouble” during an explosive 60 Minutes interview.
Clooney, a longtime Democrat, stirred controversy when he urged fellow party members to replace Joe Biden ahead of the last election. His comments shocked political circles, but Trump wasted no time firing back, slamming Clooney’s credibility and accusing CBS of biased reporting.
“Why would the now highly-discredited 60 Minutes be doing a total ‘puff piece’ on George Clooney, a second-rate movie ‘star’ and failed political pundit?” Trump fumed on his Truth Social platform.
The ex-president didn’t stop there. He accused Clooney of betraying Biden, claiming the actor had backed the president during his campaign, only to “dump him like a dog” when things got tough. Trump also took aim at Kamala Harris, alleging that Clooney was pressured by the Obama camp to push for her candidacy—only to realize it was a losing battle.
Clooney, who has been promoting his Broadway debut, used his 60 Minutes appearance to express deep concerns about the state of the country. “We now are at a place where it is harder to discern the truth,” he warned, accusing certain government forces of trying to silence journalists. “It is a fight for the ages. Journalism and telling truth to power has to be waged like war.”
The actor stood firm on his decision to call for Biden to step aside, admitting he was “surprised” by the president’s condition after seeing him at a fundraiser. He defended his controversial stance, saying, “I had to tell the truth. I’ve always liked Joe Biden, and I like him still.”
While Clooney continues to push for change, Trump remains locked in a legal battle with CBS, suing the network for $23 million over alleged election interference. CBS has dismissed the lawsuit, calling for it to be thrown out.
The war of words between Trump and Clooney is only heating up, and with both refusing to back down, this celebrity-political feud is far from over.
