Much-anticipated trial surrounding the $130,000 hush-money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, has reached a pivotal point. Daniels is expected to testify today, according to her lawyer speaking to the Associated Press.
President Donald Trump, at the center of this trial, expressed his discontent on Tuesday, claiming he was informed of the witness at the last minute and should have been given more notice, as reported by the Associated Press.
In Monday’s proceedings, prosecutors delved into the intricate paper trail of the case. They revealed to the jurors how Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, was reimbursed from Trump’s trust and personal accounts in 2017 after he made the payment to Daniels.
Testimonies from two long-term Trump Organization employees shed light on the reimbursements made to Cohen in 2017. These revelations allowed prosecutors to hone in on the 34 counts of falsified business records.
However, before the prosecutors presented their key evidence, Judge Juan Merchan issued a stern warning. He explicitly stated that any further violation of the gag order by the former president would result in jail time.
As Monday came to a close, the New York district attorney’s office hinted at the trial’s progress, estimating that approximately two weeks of testimony remain.
As the trial progresses, all eyes are on the courtroom, awaiting Stormy Daniels’ testimony and further revelations surrounding this historic criminal hush money trial involving Donald Trump.
