Downton Abbey Star Gives Huge Filming Update as Fans Beg ‘When Is It Back?’

London, UK – Harry Hadden-Paton, famed for his role as Herbert “Bertie” Pelham, 7th Marquess of Hexham in Downton Abbey, has thrilled fans with an exciting update about the third movie in the beloved franchise. During his appearance at the London premiere of Twisters, the 43-year-old actor shared insights about the ongoing production, setting the stage for its highly anticipated release in September 2025.

In a red-carpet chat with HELLO!, Harry revealed that filming for the third Downton Abbey film is well underway. He expressed delight at reuniting with his castmates and shared that the production has been smooth. “It’s going very well, no major dramas,” he stated, adding, “We all know what we’re doing by now. I would say it’s bigger and better than before. The set pieces are massive.”

Harry further teased the audience by mentioning the technological advancements being utilized in the new film. “There’s a drone in almost every new scene and an amazing new cast as well. Some really exciting new people,” he hinted, while keeping additional details under wraps. Reflecting on reuniting with the cast, Harry remarked, “It’s wonderful, it’s like slipping into an old pair of slippers. Everyone knows everyone so well. We’ve all been through quite a bit together, so there are no surprises. It’s easy, and we’re all very grateful for it. It’s a joy to have a chance to get together again.”

The announcement of the third Downton Abbey movie was made official in May, with the franchise’s Instagram account posting a video of the cast arriving for a table read. Michelle Dockery, known as Lady Mary Crawley, expressed her excitement, saying, “It feels amazing and emotional. It’s wonderful, all to be back together again. We come back together, and it feels like no time has passed at all. We’re so happy to announce that we’re in production for the third Downton Abbey movie, we can’t wait to see you.”

The much-anticipated film, set for release on September 12, 2025, will continue the story from where Downton Abbey: A New Era left off. Following the poignant demise of the Dowager Countess, Lady Violet (played by Maggie Smith), the narrative will explore the new dynamics with Lady Mary now at the helm of Downton. Fans can look forward to another captivating chapter crafted by Julian Fellowes and directed by Simon Curtis, who also helmed the 2022 film.
