In a sharp and unforgiving move, the Drudge Report skewered former President Donald Trump following his latest fast-food spectacle in Pennsylvania. On Sunday, Trump worked the drive-thru at a closed McDonald’s, serving meals to five pre-selected cars filled with supporters. The photo op, however, became more than just a publicity stunt—it ignited a fresh wave of ridicule.
Drudge founder Matt Drudge wasted no time in leading his site with a stinging headline, branding Trump as “McDonald.” Beneath this headline, subheadings such as “One fry short of a Happy Meal!” and “Felon Finds Work” took further jabs at the former president. While Trump’s base might have found the event to be lighthearted fun, critics—both liberal and non-MAGA conservatives—saw it as yet another stunt worthy of derision.
The McDonald’s stunt also served as a stage for Trump to take shots at Vice President Kamala Harris. Harris has previously mentioned working a summer job at McDonald’s, a claim Trump has repeatedly undermined. Harris’s campaign responded swiftly, with spokesperson Ian Sams telling The New York Times, “When Trump feels desperate, all he knows how to do is lie. He can’t comprehend what it’s like to have a summer job because he was handed millions on a silver platter, only to squander it.”
This public clash marks a significant downturn in Trump’s relationship with Drudge, who once supported the former president. Trump has even vented his frustrations, stating in April that he had “given up on Drudge.” In response, Drudge boasted that his site’s viewership had reached unprecedented heights, adding that it was “heartbreaking” it had come under such circumstances.
With Drudge’s sharp words and Harris’s swift rebuttal, Trump finds himself navigating another round of criticism, signaling a deeper rift between him and conservative figures like Matt Drudge.
