Former Donald Trump attorney Jim Trusty has sparked controversy with his recent remarks suggesting President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline makes him unfit for office, advocating for invoking the 25th Amendment. Trusty’s comments, aired on Newsmax’s “Newsline,” highlighted concerns over Biden’s competence, citing recent verbal stumbles and suggesting his condition may worsen behind closed doors.
Trusty criticized Biden’s supporters, accusing them of prioritizing political power over national interests. He argued that Biden’s perceived weakness could embolden adversaries and undermine national security, calling for action based on patriotism rather than political gain.
Interestingly, Trusty acknowledged a potential advantage for Trump in the next election if Biden remains in office, despite his concerns about Biden’s capability to lead. His sentiments echo those of other Republicans, including Texas Representative Chip Roy, who have also called for the 25th Amendment to be invoked.
Roy, speaking to Fox News, criticized Biden’s advisors for allegedly controlling him like a “puppet” and emphasized the constitutional necessity of addressing Biden’s alleged incapacity. He accused the media of downplaying Biden’s condition, comparing it to a “Manchurian Candidate” scenario.

Under the 25th Amendment, Vice President Kamala Harris and a majority of the cabinet can declare the president unfit, transferring powers temporarily to the vice president.
The debate over Biden’s fitness for office continues to unfold, raising significant political and constitutional questions as the 2024 election approaches.
