In a scathing critique aired on Fox News, host Jessica Tarlov targeted House Oversight Committee chair James Comer (R-Ky.) for alleged hypocrisy in the ongoing GOP-led impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden. The Associated Press (AP) investigation unveiled a web of financial dealings involving Comer’s shell company, Farm Team Properties, prompting Tarlov to question the congressman’s credibility.

The AP report, made public on Friday, detailed the co-ownership of the shell company by Comer and his wife, operating in a manner described as “similarly opaque” to businesses associated with the Bidens. The report also shed light on Comer’s ownership of six acres of land with a campaign donor, subsequently transferred to the shell company in 2017. This transfer raised concerns about potential undisclosed land ownership, a revelation not reflected in Comer’s financial disclosure forms.

During her broadcast, Tarlov seized on the apparent contradiction, exclaiming, “So he’s been going on for months about the fact that people who are innocent of these things don’t have shell companies. But guess what? James Comer does.”

As Tarlov scrutinized Comer’s actions, she emphasized the irony of his role in spearheading an impeachment inquiry while allegedly engaging in practices he vehemently condemns. “If someone is trying to run an above-board impeachment inquiry and is running around all over television saying, ‘Innocent people don’t do this thing that I’m doing myself,'” she remarked, highlighting the perceived hypocrisy.

Beyond the focus on Comer, Tarlov extended her commentary to the broader impeachment effort against Biden. During “The Five” panel discussion, she suggested that Democrats should reconsider their support for Biden if he is “found guilty of whatever high crime and misdemeanor” Republicans claim to have evidence of, even as specific charges remain unnamed.

Tarlov argued that Democrats appear hesitant to vigorously defend Biden, citing the lack of substance in the impeachment proceedings. She referenced Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.) who expressed concerns on CNN, suggesting that without pursuing impeachment, a “huge part of America” won’t support the GOP. Tarlov interpreted Green’s statement as evidence of a lack of confidence in the legitimacy of the impeachment inquiry, implying political motivations rather than a sincere belief in wrongdoing.

Throughout her commentary, Tarlov emphasized the crucial need for transparency and consistency among politicians, urging them to uphold the standards they advocate. The Fox News host’s remarks not only scrutinized Comer’s alleged hypocrisy but also cast doubt on the validity of the wider impeachment effort against President Biden.
