The House Oversight Committee has taken a big step by issuing subpoenas to Hunter Biden, James Biden, and their business linked to Rob Walker. They want these folks to testify before the committee. This is all part of a big investigation into the Biden family’s business deals and if President Biden had any hand in them.
As reported by Fox News on November 8, 2023, the committee’s been digging into the Bidens for quite some time, and this ties into the wider House impeachment inquiry against President Biden.
The subpoenas are a way for the committee to gather more information to see if President Biden did anything wrong while he was in office or if he was mixed up in any shady stuff.
The subpoenas are asking Hunter Biden, James Biden, and Walker to come in for questioning. They’re also asking for recorded interviews with other Biden family members and their friends, like Sara Biden, Hallie Biden, Elizabeth Secundy, Melissa Cohen, and Tony Bobulinski.
The chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, said, We’ve followed the money and found evidence showing that Joe Biden was in the loop and benefited from his family’s business deals. Now, we’re bringing in Biden family members to talk about this evidence.
The committee is planning to send out more subpoenas and interview requests soon.
This investigation, led by Chairman James Comer, has already looked at the personal and business bank records of Hunter Biden and James Biden. Those records raised more questions about whether President Biden knew about his family’s business dealings.
The subpoenas to the Bidens came out just a day after special counsel David Weiss, who’s in charge of the investigation into Hunter Biden, said he wasn’t stopped from charging the president’s son.
People have different opinions on these subpoenas. Republicans think it’s a good move, with Jim Jordan, a member of the Oversight Committee, saying that the American people need to know the truth about the Biden family’s business deals. However, Democrats say it’s just a political stunt to take attention away from the impeachment inquiry.
So far, Hunter Biden and James Biden haven’t said anything about the subpoenas. Hunter Biden has said before that he didn’t do anything wrong in his business, and President Biden has repeatedly said he wasn’t involved in his family’s business stuff.
