House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is set to investigate Lesley Wolf, the former prosecutor of Hunter Biden, regarding the handling of the investigation into Hunter’s income from the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma. Jordan expressed concerns about significant payments to Hunter, prompting questions about potential connections between Burisma, President Joe Biden, and the White House. Jordan highlighted alleged deviations from investigative protocol by Wolf, who is also known to be a Democratic campaign donor.
According to Jordan, the focus on Burisma in the investigation extends beyond Hunter, reaching implications for the White House. He raised questions about the decision to let the statute of limitations expire for tax years 2014 and 2015, the period when the bulk of Burisma income reached Hunter Biden. Jordan asserted, “My theory is that when you get into Burisma, you get to the White House.”

Simultaneously, Jordan initiated an oversight investigation into U.S. intelligence agencies, expressing concerns about alleged obstruction of a 2020 Senate investigation into the Biden family. He wrote to National Intelligence Director Avril Haines, seeking information on the “defensive” briefing provided to Senators Ron Johnson and Chuck Grassley by FBI officials in August 2020. Jordan contends that the briefing characterized the investigation’s claims as Russian disinformation, hindering the senators’ efforts.
Jordan’s multifaceted investigation aims to uncover potential links between Hunter Biden, Burisma, and the White House, while also scrutinizing allegations of intelligence community obstruction in the 2020 Senate inquiry. The inquiries contribute to the ongoing scrutiny of the Biden family’s financial dealings and their broader implications on U.S. politics. The broader scope of Jordan’s questioning addresses allegations that Wolf disregarded campaign finance concerns raised by whistleblowers, adding nuance to the investigation and fueling ongoing debates about transparency and potential political influence.
